Billy Chermirmir’s trial in Dallas came to a standstill when the jury deadlocked after deliberations. Judge Raquel Jones issued the ruling as a result. Their notes to the court say they were “hopelessly deadlocked 11 to one” in the case, with the verdict the majority supported being unknown. Chermirmir was being tried in the death of 81-year-old Lu Thi Harris. During the trial, the 48-year-old’s attorneys said that the evidence presented showcased “quantity over quality,” saying that prosecutors have not concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that Chermirir committed the crime....

O’Connor found that the sailors covered in the class action shared key similarities with a group of 35 sailors who had previously sued over the mandate—a group that he granted a preliminary injunction against being punished for refusing the vaccine in January....

Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill on Monday signed an order requiring the release of the names of the 14 jurors and two alternative jurors in the trial by November 1. The questionnaires submitted by the 109 people considered for the jury and the jury’s verdict form will also be made public the same day, according to the order. Cahill wrote in an opinion accompanying the order that he does not believe the jurors continue to need protection for their safety because the trial ended months ago....

Cricket Australia released a statement announcing they had accepted Langer’s resignation, further stating that the former opening batter hadn’t agreed to a short-term extension and chose to step down.
