Detroit on Wednesday put Verlander on the 15-day disabled list with a right triceps strain, retroactive to March 29, and recalled left-hander Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A Toledo. Lobstein will get the start Sunday in Cleveland, an assignment the team had hoped Verlander would be able to handle. Instead, the right-hander will get a bit more time to recover from an injury that cropped up late in spring training. Verlander threw about 40 pitches during a bullpen session Sunday that got mixed reviews from Tigers manager Brad Ausmus....

Chief District Judge Barbara MG Lynn dismissed the case on Tuesday for lack of subject matter jurisdiction. In her 26-page ruling, Lynn said the court was “not convinced by the argument put forth by SWAPA’s counsel.” The union represents more than 9,000 pilots. “As to the COVID Vaccine Policy, the Court similarly concludes that Southwest’s action in promulgating the policy is arguably justified by the [collective bargaining agreement’s] goal for ensuring ’the safety of air transportation, the efficiency of operation,’ and ‘safe and reasonable working conditions,’” the ruling stated....

His is among seven executions set by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Monday. They would be the first death sentences carried out by the state since a series of botched executions prompted a moratorium on capital punishment almost seven years ago. The Broward County jurors were attempting to decide whether 27-year-old Dayonte Resiles was guilty of manslaughter or first-degree murder in the killing of Jill Halliburton Su. Su was found stabbed to death in her home with her ankles and wrists bound together in 2014. Resiles could see up to 30 years behind bars from a manslaughter conviction, but being found guilty of first-degree murder could result in the death penalty....
