Wordle might be simple for most players to learn, but it can be quite a challenge to master. Players will need to be on their toes to figure out the word of the day every single day. But every player first needs to know the rules, so here is a breakdown of how to play.

First, players will need to head to the right site. While there are tons of popular Wordle clones out there, the original is on the New York Times Games website. Other versions, clones, and copies will have different answers and may even have slightly different rules. So in order for this article to be useful, players will want to make sure they are in the right place.
Once at the Wordle site, players will need to choose a good starting word. This word should:
Be five letters. Be a real English word. Not be one of the many offensive words censored from Wordle by the New York Times. Have a good combination of common consonants and nouns.
Type the chosen starting word into the top of the Wordle site using the on-board keyboard or the keyboard of the device. Press enter. This will cause the letter blocks to change colors; there are three possible colors and each has a different meaning:
Green letters are right. Those that turn gray are wrong. Yellow blocks contain letters that are right, but they are in the wrong place in the word.
Given these clues, players will need to continue to guess words, check out the new colors of the new word’s letters, and try new words until the word is guessed or the player runs out of their six guesses. Puzzles reset daily at midnight.
