How To Play Wordle
Although there are tons of copycats, clones, and even an official Wordle board game, there is only one original. Wordle is currently hosted on the New York Times Games site where it has lived since the newspaper purchased it earlier this year. All hints and rules in the article will be about this version; other Wordles will have different answers and may even have different rules. Here’s how to play:

Head to the right site and choose a starting word. It should be five letters long, a real English word, and should have a good distribution of common letters in Wordle puzzles. Type the chosen starting word into the site and press enter. This will fill out the top row of the 5x6 grid on the site, and then the letters will change colors. The colors will give players some clues as to the real answer.
Green letters are right and in the right place in the word. Gray letters are wrong and will not appear in the final answer. Any letter that turns yellow is right but in the wrong place in the word.
Using these clues, players should continue typing in new words into the grid and getting more color clues until they guess the word of the day, or they run out of their six tries. There is only one Wordle per day, so players will have to wait until midnight for the next puzzle to roll around.
